Changing the world one step at a time
Hi there! My name is Anastasia Cook, I am a student at Rose-Hulman studying Engineering Design with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. I have a strong interest in engineering, toy production, and creative media, especially in product and graphic design but am open to exploring my options.
Ever since I was a little, I have always been fascinated with the world around me. I would try to take things apart to see how they worked. I was a natural engineer. My curiosity and tinkering grew over the years. I am passionate about what I do and strive to help those who need us the most, encouraging them to follow their dreams.
My expertise includes creating several products for real-world clients both on a team-based and individual level, utilizing my knowledge of design skills and user-centered design principles, to create new and innovative products/toys for those in need.
I am currently seeking summer internship opportunities that will help me grow, develop, and experience a wide range of expertise, so that I can bring these skills into a company to improve and innovate different products.
ROBOTICS
An early journey
When I was 12, I joined a good and supportive robotics team, where I thrived. I was not just the only girl on this team of 9 boys; I was the youngest by four years. With these teammates’ encouragement, I made diverse new friends, learned new skills, and found out I was good at design, building, and programming. Furthermore, I became my team’s spokeswoman and was featured in the “Women in STEM” program. I have been involved with robotics ever since, acting as a team captain, lead designer, community outreach champion, and project mentor for younger students.
Graphic Design
The art in STEAM
For the past 7 years, I have been designing logos, graphical fliers, and many other promotional materials. In 2021, I was honored when my design was chosen to be on t-shirts for the Rose-Hulman homecoming “Bonfire” event. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, painting and expanding my knowledge when it comes to digital and analog design practices.
Entrepreneur
An early journey
Being a student of the ESCALATE program here at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, I successfully led my teammates in brainstorm sessions where we came up, researched, rehearsed, and presented our business idea during the local Entrepreneur/ Think Tank weekend. It was an excellent opportunity to expand upon my public speaking abilities and make professional connections. While at Rose-Hulman, I plan to minor in entrepreneurship to continue growing my technical and verbal presentation skills.
I also founded the “Cybertronics Robotics Club” which strives to extend STEAM education to every student to inspire the next generation of Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, Mathematicians, Innovators, and Leaders.
